Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative team member who exemplifies our core values of excellence, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and stewardship. The ideal candidate will support students who are deaf or hard of hearing, assist with special needs, and contribute meaningfully to both instructional and non-instructional classroom activities. This role requires strong communication skills, a passion for student development, and the ability to work closely with teachers, staff, and families to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with your assigned teacher, grade-level team, and staff to support student learning and classroom operations.
- Support students who are deaf or hard of hearing by checking hearing devices and placing FM units each morning.
- Assist with the needs of students requiring additional support, including diaper changing, toilet training, and behavior management aligned with Conscious Discipline.
- Prepare classroom materials, operate technology, supervise students during transitions and activities, and facilitate language development through conversation and recorded samples.
- Provide small group or one-on-one academic support, manage learning centers, grade assignments under teacher direction, and maintain effective communication with students, families, and staff.
- Participate in teacher planning when possible and collaborate with substitutes to ensure continuity during teacher absences.
- Assist with drop-off and pick-up process to ensure the safety, efficiency and smooth transition of students, while enforcing school policies and communicating effectively with parents and guardians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
- Individual must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of student teaching or internship experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of core academic subjects. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
Certificates:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned is preferred.
- Valid Deaf Education certification is preferred.
- Valid LSLS certification is preferred.
- Valid Special Education certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
