Hours of camp: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm (8 hours per day)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Camp Assistant to support a dynamic two-week educational camp program. This role involves actively engaging with students during academic and recreational activities, assisting with daily routines, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and organized environment. Ideal candidates will be team players who model core values and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the Camp Coordinator to ensure all materials and supplies are organized and ready for use at the start of each camp day.

Actively supervise and engage with students during classroom and recreational activities, maintaining a strong focus on student safety at all times.

Assist in leading age-appropriate educational and enrichment activities aligned with weekly camp themes, including arts and crafts, games, and group discussions.

Facilitate smooth arrival and dismissal routines, supporting students through transitions and ensuring accurate student accountability each day.

Monitor student behavior, provide positive reinforcement, and implement appropriate redirection strategies as needed to support a respectful and inclusive environment.

Prepare and distribute snacks and activity materials, ensuring all students' needs are met efficiently and equitably.

Contribute to keeping the learning spaces clean, safe, and organized. Model and encourage students to care for shared materials and areas.

Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, families, and staff, upholding the school’s core values: excellence, integrity, collaboration, innovation, and stewardship.

Attend staff meetings and training sessions before or during the two-week camp program to stay informed on safety protocols and program expectations.

Assist with drop-off and pick-up process to ensure the safety, efficiency and smooth transition of students, while enforcing school policies and communicating effectively with parents and guardians.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Individual must possess a high school diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of experience working with children in a camp, school, daycare, or youth program setting is required.
  • At least one year of student teaching or internship experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading group activities and managing student behavior is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
