We are pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Elizondo as the Executive Director of Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children. With her commitment to our mission and outstanding leadership, Mrs. Elizondo has been an invaluable part of Sunshine Cottage since 2017 and is poised to lead the organization into an even brighter and more impactful future.

In her recent role as Acting Executive Director, Mrs. Elizondo has demonstrated exceptional dedication to empowering children and families, while providing a clear vision for growth and innovation. Having joined Sunshine Cottage eight years ago as the Director of Development, she has consistently showcased expertise in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and program advancement. Her passion for eliminating barriers for children who are deaf or hard of hearing uniquely positions her to guide the organization forward.

Over the past 14 months, the Board of Directors, in collaboration with a recruitment firm, led a thorough nationwide search for the next Executive Director. After an in-depth interview process, we are certain that under Mrs. Elizondo’s leadership, Sunshine Cottage will honor the legacy of Mrs. Dela White and drive the continued success and growth of our mission.

With the strong support of the Board, our families, students, staff, and community, we remain committed to our mission of helping children who are deaf or hard of hearing develop listening and spoken language. Mrs. Elizondo’s tenure at Sunshine Cottage reflects her deep belief in the potential of every child, and we are excited to continue this journey under her leadership.
