Lisa graduated from Trinity University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education of the Hearing Impaired. She has worked for Sunshine Cottage in many capacities over the last several years. Initially a classroom teacher, she enjoyed working with parents and became a Parent Infant Advisor. Lisa received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Texas, San Antonio. She then worked as the school counselor with students and families in the Day school program. Lisa is a certified LSL Auditory-Verbal Therapist and co-authored two chapters in Songs for Listening! Songs for Life! As an instructor for UT Health, Lisa helps prepare the next generation of teachers in Deaf Education and Hearing Science. Lisa and her husband Ray have four grown boys and enjoy many grandchildren! Lisa encourages new educators to “Never underestimate the power of a parent!”
