Custodian Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Thoroughly clean all boys’ restrooms twice daily and/or more frequently as needed.

Deliver or pick up necessary school items and/or mail.

Clean all windows in lobby, front office and doors, daily.

Wash all windows during summer break

Mop gym floor one to two times a week.

Strip all linoleum/tile floors and wax hardwood floors during summer break.

Shake out all floor mats from all designated areas.

Empty trash from all areas of the school to include portables.

Spot clean carpets as needed and vacuum all areas to include annex and family services.

Vacuum air conditioning ducts and smoke detectors, once a month.

Wash school vans to include interior cleaning, bi-weekly.

Assist in setting up gym or board room for board meetings, faculty meetings and all other required events.

Other duties as required, such as:  painting, repair loose or un-safe items, change or replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, move furniture, and/or haul or transport school product to and from school.

Report in writing, any unsafe structure or repair requiring professional expertise to maintenance supervisor, (i.e. electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, vehicle maintenance).

Education and/or Experience

High School or GED preferred with a minimum of five years related experience.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with all levels of staff and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills          

Requires basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication skills.

Reasoning Ability

Willing to take initiative, be assertive and work with minimal supervision.  Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Possess a valid Texas driver’s license; maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; kneel; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear and have good vision.  Medium lifting typical of an elementary school, required; work in unfavorable weather conditions, and perform unpleasant custodial duties relative to the job.
